Silk Road, 1962

Oboe solo - duration c. 3'

Hewitt Hill Music

Silk Road, 1962 was commissioned by Harvey Gagnon as a surprise Christmas gift for his wife Patti in 2017. Harvey and Patti share a beautiful history together, having met while in the Peace Corps in Pakistan in 1962. This piece incorporates modal interchanges and polymodal chromaticism often found in Middle Eastern and Indian music. It is also unmetered, allowing for a great degree of personal interpretation on the part of the performer.
