Little Pieces was composed as a Christmas gift for my mother in autumn, 2021. Each movement, of which there are three, focuses on a single human emotion. Empty, the first movement, is an expression of mental and emotional exhaustion, born out of the many long months of stress and boredom during the Covid-19 pandemic. The second movement, Regret, acknowledges that all of us make mistakes and that recognizing these mistakes is a part of growth. The final movement is a spontaneous and energetic expression of an elemental human emotion - Joy.
